second time in ~7yrs.I thought I had musquito bites, but found it curious information technology was simply on my correct arm. Got worse over the last couple of days until I realized information technology was shingles. Last fourth dimension I had it on my face into my eyes, sucks. Dr. put me on Valtrex.

My mom has gotten it a few times. All around her stomach and back. A few of her sores got infected with MRSA and it was a hellish nightmare of pain and pus. Promise you recover shortly.

Everyone thinks y'all can't get it if yous had chicken pox but I believe information technology's the opposite. Lady at piece of work had it sounded brutal
Uh, it's the other fashion around. You tin just become it if you have had chickenpox. Shingles is what happens when the chickenpox (which lives in your spine for the rest of your life) reactivates. If you've never had chickenpox, you lot tin't go the shingles.

My married woman just recovered from it, and I had it a few years agone. Really hurts. It is the chicken pox virus that flares up; there'due south a vaccine now, though.
For chicken pox, too, which is why it's soooooo important to become kids vaccinated for this stuff.

My sympathies, OP. I had the shingles once around historic period 34. Information technology sucks difficult. Keep taking those painkillers (co-ordinate to the doctor's instructions, of course) and move as piffling every bit possible. If you caught information technology early, it won't be that bad.Uh, it's the other way effectually. Y'all can only get it if y'all have had chickenpox. Shingles is what happens when the chickenpox (which lives in your spine for the rest of your life) reactivates. If you've never had chickenpox, you can't get the shingles.
I had Shingles when I around 10, and then had chicken pox when I was 17. Hadn't had whatever signs of chicken pox before that though... unless it simply laid dormant without affecting me.
Hoping for a speedy recovery OP.

I had information technology a few years ago on the left side of my body and it was the worst, especially because I slept on that side. Could be worse though, a friend of mine got information technology on his face which can cause permanent injury to your optics.
It's because how information technology works is a little disruptive. You lot can't catch Shingles. Nonetheless, a person with Shingles can infect people who haven't had chickenpox with chickenpox (because it'due south the same virus.)Everyone thinks you can't get information technology if you lot had craven pox just I believe information technology'due south the opposite. Lady at work had it sounded brutal
Once you've had chickenpox it never leaves your body, Shingles is the virus flaring upward again on its ain, usually when y'all have a weakened allowed system (but sometimes if you're similar me, merely bad luck.)

I had Shingles when I around ten, then had craven pox when I was 17. Hadn't had any signs of chicken pox before that though... unless information technology but laid dormant without affecting me.
In that location are many possible explanations for what you lot had, including the possibility that you lot didn't have shingles at all, only I tin can guarantee you lot that nobody has shingles without commencement getting infected with the varicella zoster virus. The initial infection from that virus causes chicken pox. Shingles happens when the virus reactivates.

Im kinda lucky in that mine wasn't/isnt particularly painful and its already crusting up and fading. Im gonna endeavor to get the Shingrix vaccine soon or whatever to endeavour to avert a repeat

The pain will hit you later on its gone. It damages the nerves. Luckily in immature people the impairment is repaired I think.Im kinda lucky in that mine wasn't/isnt particularly painful and its already crusting up and fading. Im gonna attempt to become the Shingrix vaccine shortly or whatsoever to try to avoid a repeat
You lot don't need the vaccine anymore.

Hope you have a speedy recovery OP and others.

Tbf, it's not that bad if you don't get it on somewhere really unfortunate similar your face. It'south painful but it'due south not like it's debilitating or annihilation. I got through a fair few games while I was under doctor'due south orders to not leave my flat incase I requite people chicken pox :PGreat, at present I'm agape of randomly getting shingles.Hope y'all have a speedy recovery OP and others.

The hurting will hit you later its gone. It damages the nerves.
Not necessarily. My understanding is that this only happens in a minority of cases, though the hazard is higher the older you are when you have the infection. I never had any nervus damage.
- #24
Did you feel whatever numbness in the area later on it was gone? Not necessarily. My understanding is that this simply happens in a minority of cases, though the hazard is higher the older you lot are when you take the infection. I never had whatever nerve damage.
The virus travels through the nerves from the brain and damages the nerve endings every bit the boils starts showing on the peel.

What was scary is when I got an infection from poison ivy it clustered and blistered the same way.
- #27
The hurting will hitting yous after its gone. It amercement the nerves. Luckily in young people the damage is repaired I think. You don't need the vaccine anymore.
I don't recollect this is true. Postherpetic Neuralgia (the longlasting pain later shingles) doesn't happen in every instance. For virtually people, the pain lasts as long as the blisters/rash itself.
- #28
Did you feel any numbness in the area after it was gone?
None whatsoever, equally far as I can recall. Virtually people don't take nerve damage from the affliction, even temporarily. The risk of skin scarring is much higher.
I know it's rare to get them a second time but it'south impossible to not retrieve any small rash or blister cluster isn't shingles.
I actually defenseless the infection before information technology affected the skin in any visible way when I had the shingles. It felt like I had a sunburn that traveled all the mode from my chest to the tip of my thumb. I could actually trace the nerve with my finger. Considering of this, I could go my doctor involved at an early on enough stage to shorten the elapsing of the infection and the intensity of the pain. So hurting that feels like a sunburn is what I'm looking for.

I wasn't so lucky.Tbf, information technology's not that bad if you don't get it on somewhere really unfortunate like your face up.

For me I never had whatsoever itching or called-for sensation. The but thing felt was when I actually touched them, and even then the irritation would but linger for a cursory time.

Ooph. I worked in a hospital for two years and cypher would brand nurses run out of a room faster than MRSA. Not a fun affair to contract.
- #32
The rash is very distinctive (it follows the path of a major nerve as the zoster virus reactivates), and then it wasn't misdiagnosed.
I guess information technology depends on how much nerve damage it does as it flares up.
